Urban Jungle

One of the last assignments from our class in Digital Performer (a recording program commonly used in the music industry). Most of the later assignments involved writing music based on video game concept art or gameplay footage.


For this assignment, we were given a short gameplay video of the 2018 Spider-Man game and instructed to write 80 to 90 seconds of music that could be used in open world or exploration stages. As with most of the assignments for the class, we were encouraged to experiment with styles as long as we could justify our stylistic choices. Although the audio file did not have to loop, the music had to be written in a way that it could loop back onto itself.

We had spent the last couple classes listening to classic and retro video game music, and I wanted to try writing a retro-inspired track with lots of energy.
